Hozelock Titan 2100 Pump Review:
The titan 2100 (hozelock likes to renumber their product line every other year) supposedly pumps over 2000 gph at 0ft. It's an in-pond pump. It's enclosed by a plastic cage with shutters over the bottom slots to minimize clogging by bottom dirt, if you choose to.
The pump comes apart very easily, without any tools for cleaning, which is only needed once a year. I had the pump running in my pond for about a year, even through the winter, 24/7. I use it to run my Bioforce 2000UVC filter at a height of about 4.5ft through about 12-15ft of 1.5" wide tubing. Also, from the filter, an additional 7-8ft of 1.5" tubing roughly horizontal from the filter output. Despite the length of tubing and the 90 degree bend at the filter input and the use of the pressurized filter, the output over my waterfall is strong.
It uses about 110watts, added to the 13 watts of the UVC unit makes for a pretty tight low power pond setup for the size it's working in.
I've been very pleased with the pump, with only a minor concern. When the pump impellor becomes clogged, which can happen if you accidentally drop the pump or move the pump into a huge amount of dirt and debris on the pond floor, the pump will shut off, to avoid damaging itself. It wont turn on again until you power it off and wait a minute and plug it back in. It may work for some time, but if you dont clean it, it'll power off again possibly when you leave. This can be dangerous. I didn't know that this was the behavior of when the pump is clogged, I thought it was the filter and cleaned that instead.
Knowing what to look at when the pump turns off is important, now that I do know, it's not a problem, but a good feature. Other than that, the pump has been flawless. Even with all the tubing and the height, it has a good flow rate and isn't too powerfull for the pressurized filter to work while giving plenty of water for a wide free flowing waterfall.
Overall, I would recommend this pump for anyone, or at least one from the same line, they have fittings, like all hozelock products, for various hose sizes and it is durable and powerful for the power usage and price. Price again, being another deciding factor, you have to shop around for hozelock products, many places will price them at premium levels. Search and you'll find some bargain prices.
