I'm nearing a 1.0 release of smp-encode. The GTK+ interface is not simply a frontend on top of smp-encode. It's a complete rewrite of the utility.
For those that don't know, smp-encode is a utility that encodes a group of files or directory in parallel using any number (1-5) of threads; making sure to group the files equally among them. It is a frontend in the sense that it uses pre-installed encoders to do the actual encoding.
In addition to debugging and error check patches...
For 1.0
- It will allow pausing and cancelling of threads.
- It will allow the use of oggenc, lame, and any other encoder to encode files ...though error checking is not implemented yet.
- It allows selection of files or directories
- It will support persistant options
For 1.5
- It will have an options file
- It will support a destination directory
For 2.0
- Ripping support using cdparanoia
For 2.5
meta-tag support / autonaming via net databases
Anyway, enough of the brain spew
